Oweis to serve as police information officer

É«ÇéAPPµ¼º½ Police Lt. Nader Oweis has assumed the public information officer duties for the Police Department, replacing Paul Pfotenhauer of the É«ÇéAPPµ¼º½ News Service.

Oweis currently oversees the É«ÇéAPPµ¼º½ Police Department's campus patrol division and is also a crisis negotiator on the critical incident negotiation team. Promoted last July to lieutenant, Oweis has been with the campus Police Department since 1994. He was promoted to sergeant in 1999, and in recent years served as a field training officer and supervised the detective's unit. Oweis earned a bachelor's degree in managerial economics from É«ÇéAPPµ¼º½ in 1992.

The É«ÇéAPPµ¼º½ Police Department is a state police agency that provides patrol, investigative and crime prevention services on the main Davis campus and at the É«ÇéAPPµ¼º½ Medical Center in Sacramento.

Pfotenhauer will continue to serve as public information officer for the É«ÇéAPPµ¼º½ Fire Department.
